NBA | Pete Davidson | Ana de Armas | Drake | Kevin Spacey | Patrick Ryan McCann | Start Wildlife Photography Career On A Budget

For most beginners of wildlife photography, the first question on their mind is if they can start their career with the less expensive cameras and gadgets available on the market and still get quality wildlife photos that they would be proud of.

Patrick Ryan McCann believes that there should be a minimum amount that a beginner is ready to spare to acquire cameras and gadgets for this career path or hobby. For a beginner, the minimum you will need is a camera body and at least one telephoto lens, and these two items cost approximately 2,000 AUD (around 1,400 USD). This is about the minimum needed for a camera and gadget as a beginner, having more than this amount would do a lot of good on your gadget procurement.

Yes, budget cameras and gadgets have lots of limitations, but you can still do lots of good with them, they can still give you the great bokeh that helps to isolate your subject and gives more light to your subject. They can still give you that clean-cut, sharp image you need, but not as sharp as the professional lens with a huge sales price that would cost you far more than your whole budget.

Below, Patrick Ryan McCann lists out some camera bodies with low prices and great features

Best Camera Body on a Budget.

Below are a list of the camera makes and their respective features

Nikon

The entry-level Nikon cameras are the Nikon D300 series of which the Nikon D3500 is the latest with a starting price of a little below 440 AUD. The Nikon D3500 has 24.2 megapixels, with ISO sensitivity of up to 25,600 and a full HD video recording. This camera body is perfect for a beginner to venture into the wild and start snapping away at wild animals. Don't get too close!

Another Nikon camera body you can go for is the Nikon D5600 with a kit lens which costs about 740 AUD. These camera bodies have cropped sensors that give more reach to your lens. The cropped sensor enables you to zoom in more than you can when using a full-frame sensor with the same lens.

Canon

Canon gives out a real budget camera body with the Canon EOS 4000D which costs about 340 AUD. It boasts 18 megapixels and captures at 3 frames per second, you should anticipate a low ISO capacity with this camera body as it screams budget camera all over.

If you can spend a little above that, then you might need the Canon EOS 77D which costs around  1040 AUD and gives a superb 24.2 megapixels and shoots images at 6 frames per second for freezing fast motion. Its ISO is far better than the EOS 4000D and gives a better depth of field.

Best telephoto lenses on a budget

Canon

The Canon company has numerous telephoto lenses for different budgets, and as a beginner, one of the low-cost Canon would be good for you. The Canon EF 75-300mm III lens is one of the best lenses for its low price. Cost at around 444 AUD, with reliable autofocus, wide zoom range, and produces sharp images. Its small and light weight makes it easy to carry and run with.

The Improved version of the EF 75-300mm III is the EF 75-300mm II. It has improved and fast autofocus, more optical quality, and a new electronic display and it is priced at around 890 AUD.

There are other lenses with amazing features, like the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD which is a little above 300 AUD, Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM at around 1200 AUD, and other makers of lenses.

Patrick Ryan McCann advises that you do your due diligence research before investing in a particular camera and lens for your wildlife photography adventure.
